Atlanta, Georgia—Wilson Creek Records Releases Jerry Reed Tribute Album

Jerry Reed…Revisited by Darrell Toney & Friends is a must listen for all Country Music, guitar, and Jerry Reed enthusiasts!

With the most authentic and refreshing tribute album of the year, Wilson Creek Records announces the release of Jerry Reed…Revisited (a collection of classic Reed instrumentals).
Grammy award winner Ricky Skaggs said, “I was so happy when I heard this new CD by Darrell Toney. I had forgotten just how many great Jerry Reed instrumentals there were, and Darrell does an awesome job on this project. He is a great guitar player and a real student of this kind of playin’. You’re really going to enjoy this CD, I guarantee it.”

Darrell Toney along side some of the greatest Nashville session musicians has created one of the most authentic and refreshing tribute albums ever. The brilliant blend of country, R&B, jazz, and gospel are captured to embody the very essence of Jerry Reed’s music.

This is what others had to say about Jerry Reed…Revisited —

Nashville guitar legend Brent Mason said, “This is a superb album to My Favorite Guitar Player of all time, Jerry Reed. Darrell captured every essence of Jerry Reed’s style…Congrats on a job well done.”

Producer/musician David Hungate said, “Like Django, Chet and a few others, Jerry Reed created a unique style of guitar playing, one which will be carried on by admirers for generations to come.
Darrell Toney captures the spirit of Jerry’s music…perfectly.”

Dear Friends,
We are saddened by the loss of a friend and harmonica legend Terry McMillan who died on February 2, 2007. Terry was open about his struggles in life but he consistently shared the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ with others. His talent and friendship will be missed and we extend our love and prayers to his entire family.

Alden K. Toney, loving father of Greg Toney (original member of The Renaissance) and uncle to Debbie, Darrell and Dave Toney, passed away, October 21, 2007 at the age of 87 after a prolonged illness.

Alden was a Gospel Music pioneer, singing tenor for the Blackwood Brothers from 1948-51. In 1955, Alden, along with brothers Kyer, Bob and Jim Toney, established The Toney Brothers Quartet. The group appeared on the first annual National Quartet Convention in 1957 and began appearing regularly with the Blackwood Brothers, the Statesmen Quartet, the Speer Family and many other popular groups of that era.

In 1964, Alden left the Toney Brothers to become Minister of Music at the Gilead Baptist Church in Allen Park, Michigan. He also spent many years in the Detroit automobile industry before moving to Tampa, Florida, where he worked in the health care industry. He retired in 1996.
Alden Toney is survived by his wife Betty, children, Irma and Dave Edwards, Jerry and Carol Toney, Greg and Sharon Toney and Lisa and Jeff Welsh, 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren as well as Alden’s siblings, Olive and Noah Booth, Ilene Brumfield, Mae Crocket, Kyer and Corine Toney, Jim and Dorothy Toney and Gary and Judy Toney. (See Bio Page for family history.)
The funeral was held at Calvary Baptist Church, Tampa, Florida, on October 26, 2007, and officiated by Pastor William Rice. The family asked Debbie, Darrell and Dave to sing at the funeral. Duane, Dave and Neil (formerly The Couriers), longtime friends of the Toney's, also sang some of Alden's favorite songs. Greg spoke on behalf of the family. Pastor Rice brought a comforting message to family and friends and faithfully delivered the message of salvation through Jesus Christ to all in attendance. By his own wishes, the service focused not on Alden’s life but rather the Savior he served.

Every year, from 1965-2001, the Toney family gathered for a family reunion in their hometown of Wayne, West Virginia. Family members traveled from all over the country to visit, eat, play ball and pick and sing to their hearts content. Alden will be missed but the Toney family is looking forward to the family reunion in Heaven one day soon!
These CD's, in addition to the previously re-released Together CD, are all available for purchase individually, or in a Collector's Package, through our Store link. To listen to samples, go to the Discography page.
